Tommy Horton won eight times on The European Tour, and repre- sented Great Britain and Ireland in two Ryder Cups. Served on the PGA European Tour Board of Directors, and was Chairman of the Senior Tour Committee until 2006. Also a respected coach, course designer, broadcaster and golf columnist, his massive contribution to the game was recognised when he was awarded the MBE in 2000.

The European Senior Tour’s most successful golfer, he has won the John Jacobs Trophy awarded annually to the leader of the Senior Tour Order of Merit a record five times.

Finished Number One for four suc- cessive years from 1996, and has claimed a total of 23 titles the most recent of which was the 2000 Royal Westmoreland Barbados Open. Captured at least one title each year between 1992 and 2000 and in 1997 claimed six titles, a record which has not been surpassed. Andy Stubbs, Managing Director of the Seniors Circuit in Europe and former European Tour Professional is the first to admit that the success of the Seniors Tour would not have been possible without the enormous contribution made by Tommy Horton.

His tireless dedication to golf has stretched in many directions as a coach, course designer, broadcaster, author, club professional and valued administrator. Tommy stepped down as club professional at Royal Jersey Golf Club in 1999 after 25 years service to concentrate on what turned out to be an extremely successful tournament career.

El 1 de enero de 2012 han entrado en vigor las nuevas Reglas de Golf 2012 – 2015, y las nuevas decisiones sobre las Reglas de Golf, 2012-2013.

Una de las más importantes, desde mi punto de vista, es la que hace hincapié en el cambio de la definición de preparar el golpe.
Ahora se considera que el jugador ha preparado el golpe” solo con haber apoyado el palo inmediatamente delante o detrás de la bola de golf, se haya colocado a la bola o no. Por lo tanto, y es muy importante esto, las Reglas de Golf , generalmente, no contemplan que un jugador prepare el golpe en un obstáculo, es decir que ya no tiene que estar colocado el jugador a la bola. ¡¡Ojo con esto amigos lectores!![u][/u]
